How to Start Editing?

Editing on the Webtoon Wiki allows fans and readers to contribute knowledge about Webtoons, including plot summaries, character bios, publication history, and fan theories, or even creating new articles. The wiki is part of the larger Fandom network, which provides tools and guidelines for collaborative editing.

1. Familiarize Yourself with Wiki Guidelines

Before editing, it's recommended to review the following:

  • Webtoon Wiki Rules: Each wiki may have its own community guidelines. These are usually found on the wiki’s main page or in the “Community” or “Help” sections.
  • Fandom’s Help Pages: Learn about Editing basics, markup syntax, and style guidelines.

2. Use the Visual Editor or Source Editor

Fandom offers two editing modes:

  • Visual Editor: A user-friendly, WYSIWYG interface ideal for beginners.
  • Source Editor: Allows direct editing of wiki markup for more control.

To edit a page:

  • Click the “Edit” or pencil button at the top of the article.
  • Make your changes using the editor of your choice.
  • Preview your edits and click “Publish” when ready.

3. Start with Minor Edits

New editors are encouraged to begin with small contributions, such as:

  • Fixing typos or grammar.
  • Adding references or links.
  • Updating character descriptions or episode lists.
  • Updating old information with new information.

4. Create or Expand Articles

Once comfortable, users can:

  • Create new pages for Webtoons not yet covered. Please note,
  • Add infoboxes, images, and categories.
  • Expand stub articles with detailed information.

5. Creating Pages for Canvas Series

Editors are welcome to create new pages for Webtoons not yet covered on the Webtoon Wiki. However, Canvas series—which are user-published comics on WEBTOON’s open platform—require special consideration due to copyright and content ownership.

You may only create new Canvas series pages on the Webtoon Wiki if you have direct permission from the creator. Unauthorized additions may violate copyright law and result in removal or further action. You will receive ALL legal charges if charged to the creator of the original page.

Policy for Canvas Series Pages:

  • Permission Required: You must obtain explicit permission from the original creator before creating a page for their Canvas series. This is typically done by having the creator fill out a designated Google Form provided by the Webtoon Wiki team.
  • Verification Process: The form helps verify that the creator consents to having their work documented on the wiki. Without this step, the page may be flagged or removed.
  • Legal Responsibility: By submitting or editing a Canvas series page, you agree to comply with copyright law and Fandom’s Community Creation Policy. If unauthorized content leads to legal action, the responsibility lies with the contributor who added it—not with the wiki administrators or hosting platform.
  • The Webtoon Wiki team reserves the right to delete or block pages that violate these policies.

6. Notes for NSFW Content on Webtoons and Canvas'

Canvas series that contain NSFW (Not Safe For Work) material, explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or other content deemed inappropriate for general audiences may not be documented on the wiki. Pages that promote or include or link to such content may be removed without notice. If a contributor knowingly adds content that violates these standards, the Webtoon Wiki team may report the associated Fandom account to Fandom staff for review.

In cases involving serious violations of copyright or harmful content that we report, Fandom may cooperate with legal authorities as outlined in their Terms of Use.

Best Practices

  • Cite Sources: Use reliable references when adding factual information.
  • Be Respectful: Collaborate constructively with other editors.
  • Use Talk Pages: Discuss major changes or disputes on article talk pages.

Community and Support

  • Admin Team: The Webtoon Wiki has administrators who moderate content and assist users.
