Characters[]
Keng[]
A mysterious musician who hides many secrets. He's lived a lonely life as a homeless orphan, and misfortune follows him everywhere. The instrument he plays is called a qeej. A six-reed pipe that speaks the language of spirits; best known for its use in funerals, where a qeej master will play a song that gives instructions to the deceased to guide their travels into the afterlife. The creator adds: If you look it up online, make sure to not play any qeej music inside your house, as it will invite spirits into your home.
Shu[]
"The Slacker Prince". A naive prince who's suffered chronic fatigue and frequent illness his whole life. After getting kidnapped and later saved by Keng, he's learning a lot about the real world, as they journey home together.
Payeng (Thumeng)[]
"The Emperor's Treasure". The youngest, who has an uncanny resemblance to the emperor's past love. He's dissatisfied with royal life and wants to be his true self. As the story unfolds we get to learn more about his true identity as a transgender boy. The creator adds that the other characters are not aware of his identity and will refer to him as female and as she/her. As for the readers, the creator asks to please use he/him and to refer to him as a male character. Later in "Ep. 104 - That name suits you", Mai and him come up with the name Thumeng, to which he says: "Something about that name just feels right to me".
Mai[]
The bubbly daughter of a general, who engaged herself to Shu to stay close to Payeng. Her good-natured personality and excellent wife skills makes her a highly sought-after bride.
Pengsu[]
"Mountain-Splitting Palm". The heir to the throne, known for his exceptional soul power. His stern demeanor and cold personality makes him unapproachable to even his own children.
Yu[]
"Hand of Reason". The Third Prince, Shu's full-blooded brother. He's known for chasing down criminals across Joua. Married a commoner, to his mother's displeasure.
Lee[]
"The Untameable Tiger". The Second Prince, known for his ruthlessness and short temper. Hot-headed and bloodthirsty, he's having fun razing down the Kingdom of Na.
Song[]
"Wife Lee". The most beautiful woman in Joua. Lee's only wife, forced to marry him to pay her father's debts. Covered in mysterious scars. Secretly knows swordfighting.
Ku[]
Ku is non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns.
