Plot[]

This is a recount of events that directly take place in The Last Dimension episodes.

Episode 1 - The Vision[]

Fai recounts a vision she had the previous night to Sucy in which the institute is destroyed and falls into a "dark, frozen sea." Sucy tells her it was probably just a nightmare. The two race to a meeting hall, where new students are entering Quianto from the Laire Institute. The two find out that Anne is their new roommate. The gates open and the new students enter. A low-whisperer from Quianto points out Alex to Fai and Sucy, calling him "The Most Powerful Mit in Laire."

We see the first glimpse of Skraunt, watching from just beyound the Quianto outdoor compound.

Episode 2 - Chondrias[]

Susi and Fai spot Anne's green hair amongst the new students and call her over. While they are introducing themselves to each other, they overhear Alex complaining that he was assigned Phillip as his roommate. The other two students he's talking to express their disgust and suggest he ask for it to be changed. Alex and the other two students then spot Phillip standing nearby and threaten him, saying, "If you don't move out tonight... we'll make your life a living hell in Quianto."

In response to this, Susi stands up for Phillip and almost starts a fight, but one of Alex's friends tells him they should just go. Afterwards, Fai tries to invite Phillip to join the tour Susi and Fai are about to give Anne, but he runs off before she can finish asking.

Phillip runs into his assigned room and returns to his original form. When Alex enters the room, they get into a heated argument.

Characters[]

Fai[]

Fai is the protagonist of the series. She is an 11 year old, 5th grade oracle from Quianto Institute (located "somewhere in South America") with her chondria officially listed as "Premonitions". She does not have an official last name (written on her Quianto profile as "N/A, Fai."). It was suggested by Susi that she choose the surname "Lugo" so they could match with each other.[1]

Fai is known to be a kindhearted person, consistently reprimanding Alex for mistreating others. Fai was previously bullied at Quianto due to being abandoned by her parents at the Institute, and it seems that Susi befriended her and supported her through it.[2]

Phillip Maxwell[]

Phillip, called "Phil" by Anne and often "Freckles," by Alex, has an utso chondria that gives him the ability to control and "shift" matter. It appears he was bullied in Laire Institute, with characters from there referring to him as "Piranha."[3]

Phillip is usually quite shy, often being unable to speak to newer people. He keeps his "true form" hidden from most people, including scientists and teachers at the institutes, though it seems to require a lot of effort making him unable to keep it hidden for long periods of time. Alex is the only character we know of that is aware of Phillip's true form, though the reason that Phillip showed him is currently unknown. Alex also helps Phillip to keep his true form hidden from others.

Phillip does not know what species he is until it is revealed by Spott that he is a "Trak" and is actually the reason that the main four were sent to Imash by the portal.[4] Skraunt refers to Phillip as the "Last Child of the Cursed Traks," and "Child of Chaos."[5]

According to the group of time travellors, in the future, Phillip comes to be known as "Menter" and becomes an "Aikel" (meaning or reason for this is currently unknown).

Alex Hill[]

Alex is introduced as "the most powerful mit in Laire."[1] He has a Kel chondria named "Puppeteer," which gives him the ability to control animals (and people[6]) for a limited amount of time. He does this through shooting a trail of "poluk" (what one's soul is made of) at animals through his index finger. He seems to have limited control over the mutated animals on Imash.

Despite first seeming to have an entirely antagonistic relationship with Phillip, they appear to have a close, though somewhat complicated friendship, with both still expressing care for each other. It appears that Alex is resentful about being the most powerful mit in Laire, expressing his frustration at all the tests that are done on him. However, he is often excited by the events that take place in the webtoon, showing great enthusiasm for new discoveries.

Anne Marie de Delle[]

Anne is an 11 year old mit originally from the Laire Institute and has a kel chondria. She kept her Chondria hidden from the other characters, including teachers, the reason for which is unknown. Her ability to fly was revealed after the main four fell through the portal[7] and her ability to heal was not revealed until Alex was badly injured[8]. She appears to have a connection to the portal, remarking "I remember. The angels came through here,"[9] when she first saw it. She has referenced "The angels" twice, mentioning them in a conversation about aliens with the main four saying, "Right! The Angels will have come to stop [the alien]"[10]

Anne is a "Koo," and is able to store large amounts of poluk which is a strong source of energy and is the reason she was able to activate the portal.[11] Koos are unable to feel pain, and, according to Spott, "have a way of slipping your mind," explaining why she expresses surprise at other characters remembering her. Anne later explains to Fai that a Koo is the fading memory of a person.[12] It is because of her friend, Nisha's memory of her that Anne remains.

Before her death, Anne lived in France with her mother. Her father was a pilot who died at war[13]. He left Anne and her mother a letter, telling them to leave, but just as they were packing to go, explosives were dropped nearby Anne's house. Anne jumped into a lake, trying to run, but drowned. She, now a Koo, runs back home to search for her mother, but is unable to do anything. After becoming a Koo, Anne's Orange hair became green, but almost all other parts of her physical appearance remained the same.

Anne has a light hearted and carefree personality, often being unfazed by the predicaments the main four find themselves in. Her speech bubbles reflect this, being fluffier and more cloud-like than the other characters'. Despite sometimes seeming somewhat disconnected to reality, she is a supportive and caring friend to those around her as well as dependable in critical situations.

Susana Lugo[]

Susana, called "Susi" by the other characters, is a close friend of Fai. She has a "Heat Absorption" chondria, often using it to create ice, though it seems one of the side effects of this is a risk that Susi will "overheat."

Skraunt[]

Named "Skraunt" by Susi, Skraunt's name is in a different language. They sometimes monologue over episodes, alluding to events in the future, and appear to have a level of control over the events of the story. With their mask off, Skraunt appears as a giant dark orb with hundreds of arms and three glowing purple holes at the centre of it. When wearing the mask, they take on a more humanoid appearance, though still having 6 arms and numerous wings/feathers.

Spott[]

Spott is a Poluk Hybrid, similar to a cyborg/robot mit, with a kel chondria, "Whispering" that allows him to communicate. His master is Jagg. His interactions with both the main four and the group of time travellers has been on an "informant" basis, trading pieces of information with them. However, Spott appears to sometimes lie when doing these trades.

Jagg[]

Jagg is Spott's master. Jagg does not speak or understand English, only communicating in Meerkle. A fan-made Meerkle dictionary can be found here.

It appears that Jagg is being controlled by The Council as can be see when he attacks Phillip upon finding out he is a Trak and his speech bubbles are drawn over with red. [4] Because of this, he badly injures, and possibly kills, Lokki by accident. It is also implied he has previously killed another person from Lokki's group, Kuzz.

Episode 1 - The Vision[]

This is a recount of events that directly take place in The Last Dimension episodes.

Fair, Sucy, and another student (a low-whisperer)

History and Lore[]

A war dubbed "The Last War" destroyed most of the European continent eighty years before the first episode takes place. It was left inhabitable due to radiation. (Likely due to this radiation, though this is unclear) A frameshift mutation appeared in the mitochondrial DNA of some humans. This created an extra, 38th gene within the body names "MITEF 38," which increased the energy production within the bodies of those with the mutation. Those with this mutation were named "mits." This extra energy was "repurposed" and created special abilities named "chondrias."

Mits are rare and most chondrias are hardly noticeable, but those with "exceptional" or very powerful chondrias are sought by the military. The military trains these mits in a variety of institute locations. Some locations have highly renowned reputations, known for housing powerful, "top priority" mits and conducting "top tier research," e.g Laire.

Chondrias[]

There are four different types of chondrias[14]:

Utso Chondrias[]

These give a mit power over space-time, energy, and matter. There are four main kinds of utso chondrias: "protei," "oracles," "metranters," and "etumi." The most telling sign of utso chondrias is knowledge about unintuitive things, but they can also be more direct, such as protei who have can use their bodies as mediums to transport energy. Oracles deal with space-time while metranters are able to manipulate space and etumi mits like Phillip are able to control matter. Other examples include Susi's Heat Absorption and Fai's Premonition.

Vehc Chondrias[]

Vehc chondrias allow for control over forces and movement. These are the most visible chondrias and have a direct effect on the environment. They "work like a net of threads and planes" that no one else can see, and the mit is essentially able to pull and manipulate these threads and planes , moving objects or themselves. Mits with vehc chondrias can also increase their own strength by redirecting other forces. Examples include Anne's flight ability.

Baelta Chondrias[]

This encompasses the creation and manipulation, of and/or ability to asses or read auras and illusions. The three main types of baelta chondrias: "illusionists," "sensors," and "casters." Illusionists are able to pretend and hide, conjuring illusions. Sensers are able to read or "sense" things about other such as auras, though this is a bit vague. Casters are able to "create paths" and draw in air. These chondrias tend to be more aesthetic than powerful.

Kel Chondrias[]

These are more vague, and "deal with the mind," involving memories, feelings, and life. The four main types of kel mits are: "bridgers," "molders," "whispereres," and "pupeteers." Most mits with a kel chondria are whisperers"and are able to read minds. This mind reading ability is not very exact unless used by a very powerful mit. Bridgers, like Muien, are able to speak and communicate with spirits. Molders, like Anne, are able to manipulate the substance of souls. Alex's Puppeteer is a rarer ability, being able to control the minds of other animals and people.

The Council[]

"Resevoir" plants, like Earth, are planets that have no overt relations with the council.

The Portal[]

The portal was an unofficial, category A project (only accessible to agents and some seniors) being run by the 10th graders in Quianto, kept hidden from "them" (presumably the council). The piece of paper taped to the portal seems to call it "#892-000 Microcanonical Portal 3." After being accidentally activated by Anne, it displayed a holographic panel with Meerkle writing on it. After sucking in the main four, the portal collapsed in on itself and exploded, destroying a large portion of the Quianto Institute and badly injuring Susi.

Imash[]

Imash is the planet that the main four end up on after falling through the portal. It is a "limit planet" (meaning of this is unclear) of the A57 galaxy group with the coordinates M2Z1N5. Imash is detatched from the Vector Network.

Traks[]

Traks are an alien species (that seem to be) from Imash. According to Spott, around 16 cycles ago, Traks attempted to invade and completely destroy Earth, but were stopped by the Tetrabulent council. They erased half of Earth[15], and Anne was one of the people killed[4]. There are still Traks remaining on Earth who are hiding or running from The Council, and it is implied that Phillip is (unaware to himself) one of these runaways.
